Santigold and Karen O with “Go,” off Santi’s new new one. Meets all the requirements of the #showeranthem #singalong—those requirements being a beat that could endanger our health and lyrics we’ll mouth on the walk/drive/train to work. Because people want your power and your station! But not really. Probably not. Don’t be paranoid! Still.
"Darkness," a late-night #tubtune, courtesy of Leonard Cohen. God, we love that’s he’s still making music in 2012. Great music. Thoughty music. Our ideal bathing music.
On a personal (and, yes, cornball) note, because we cannot resist a good recommendation—lately, we’ve cut Cohen’s darkness (!) with golden 888 candles by Comme des Garçons. Cohen and Comme. A perfect pairing. Highly recommended for anyone with a taste for steamy city nights (Cohen’s contribution) and bright coriander and geranium (that’s the candle).
A song that would make anyone long for home and a hot bath. Nearly anyone. Because who would want home if this were your home away from home, your room with a view? Nobody, that’s who.
So magical it brings tears to the eyes.
Beautiful song, Take Me Home, by Perfume Genius. Light a candle* and start dreaming.
*Given the circumstances, we suggest the meditative scent of Kyoto by Comme de Garcons, a fragrance inspired by the temples of the Japanese city of the same name. Smells lightly of cedar, spicy cypress, earth, and coffee. Calming, reflective, surprisingly soft.
"Unless You Speak from the Heart" - Porcelain Raft.
A solid gear up for any day, but especially good for a long one. A hump day. Particularly if, on that long hump day, you intend to break some bad news, to have the hard talk. Because it’s just sound advice—go after it and speak from the heart. Corny? Sure. But no less true.
Also, not to trivialize the music, but this a handsome man, no? #ShowerAnthem
